“YewTube Redirect”, a browser add-on that simplifies the process of redirecting YouTube links to the privacy-focused and ad-free YewTube platform. Say goodbye to ads and tracking while enjoying your favorite content hassle-free!
Yesterday, I learned about YewTu.be, an alternative, privacy-focused, and ad-free front end for YouTube. It basically works like this: You take a normal YouTube link and replace the www.youtube.com-part of the URL by yewtu.be and land on a site that shows the video or channel, that is ad-free and does not track you. You also can subscribe to channels via RSS feed!
But is that manual link replacement something a computer can do better than me? Thanks for asking! That’s why I built “YewTube Redirect”, a browser add-on that takes care of the hard work for you.
It is available in the Firefox Add-On store as of now and reading for testing!

Update 29.02.2024: I was made aware that the Chrome plugin may not work. I will take a look at it as soon as I can.
Theres now also a Chrome version of this plugin. It is not in the store, because Manifest v3 and stuff.
