Girocodr – Payment QR Codes Without Typing IBANs

Have you ever wanted a simple way to request a bank transfer without making somebody copy a long IBAN? I wanted to celebrate digital independence with an app that makes using a regular bank account feel a little more like PayPal.

How does it work?

Girocodr creates EPC-compatible payment QR codes, also known as GiroCodes.

  1. Add your receiving account once and save it
  2. Enter an amount and reference and create the code with one click.
  3. The other person scans it with a compatible banking app, checks the details and sends the payment.

In many banking apps, you’ll find this feature under a name such as “Photo transfer” or “Scan GiroCode.”

Features

Technical Details for Nerds

Girocodr is built with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. QR codes are generated directly in the browser, and saved account details are stored only in the browser’s localstorage. There is no backend.

Since this is about real money: always check the recipient, IBAN, amount and payment reference in your banking app before authorizing a transfer.
